Vascular asterisks – telangiectasias are externally noticeable dilations of capillary vessels that occur as a result of various causes. I can manifest on any part of the body. This is not a disease, but it can bring great discomfort to both men and women.
reasons
Venous diseases, for example, varicose veins (in some cases, varicose veins do not imply the appearance of asterisks at all)
Hormonal dysfunction in women
Childbirth
Chronic venous insufficiency
Pregnancy, abortions
Taking combined oral contraceptives
symptoms
From arterioles and arterial capillaries, thin reticules are formed, red in color, from venous vessels – wider and darker. Such grids outwardly resemble the shape of a tree, can be dotted and linear. Red linear most often occur on the face – a cosmetic disease rosacea. Blue asterisks are formed most often on the lower extremities.
The location of the stars is also diverse: they can appear on the face, arms, neck, on the inside of the thigh, on the outside, on the stomach, back, and so on. Asterisks are usually not painful on palpation, but there is a form in which asterisks have a more intense color and soreness.
diagnostics
Consultation of a phlebologist
Vascular ultrasound – ultrasound Dopplerography
Additional studies of the heart, liver, genitals in women
Consultation of a gynecologist-endocrinologist
treatment
With asterisks that have arisen against the background of venous pathology, treatment of the underlying disease is necessary. It is impossible to remove asterisks conservatively – by applying creams, taking pills, and so on. Asterisks are removed only surgically:
Electrocoagulation. The sprockets are cauterized with a high-frequency current through a special electrode. The method leads to coagulation not only of the pathological vessel, but also of the normal tissues surrounding the vessel. With electrocoagulation, scarring of wounds occurs, with possible depigmentation of the scar.
Sclerotherapy. A special substance is introduced into the lumen of the vessel – a sclerosant, which promotes the bonding of the vessel walls. Externally, this is manifested by swelling, so this area of the skin is bandaged with an elastic bandage. Compression knitwear is also used. Synonym of the procedure: compression sclerosis. 1.5 – 2 months after the procedure, the vascular asterisks completely disappear.
Laser photocoagulation. The lumen of the vessel is sealed under the action of a light laser beam and subsequently the vessel regresses. A good option for small vessels, up to 2 mm in diameter.
Radio wave surgery on the Surgitron device. One of the newest methods of treatment. The high-frequency waves of the device subject the vessels to coagulation, but healing occurs without swelling and scarring. The most humane and atraumatic method to date.
Ozone therapy. These are intravascular injections of an ozone mixture, which leads to the destruction of vascular asterisks. This method also does not leave scars, does not require rehabilitation treatment.
forecast
Modern methods of treatment of vascular asterisks allow you to completely get rid of unwanted defects. In some cases, combined methods of treatment are used to achieve the best result.
PREVENTION
Treatment of the underlying disease – varicose veins, venous insufficiency and others
Normalization of hormonal background, rehabilitation of gynecological diseases
Replacement of oral contraceptives with other types of contraception, the use of a barrier method
Proper and adequate management of childbirth, if necessary, postpartum rehabilitation
Clinical examination of risk groups by a phlebologist 1 time a year
