Treatment of cystitis
Treatment of cystitis is mainly aimed at eliminating the main cause of the disease. It must be prescribed and carried out without fail under the supervision of a highly qualified urologist who will be able to competently analyze the nature of the course of the disease, its stages, the effect on the patient’s body and draw up a program of the most optimal and effective therapy.
Diagnosis of cystitis
Diagnosis of cystitis in most cases does not pose significant difficulties for doctors, since such a disease has a bright and peculiar clinical picture. At the first treatment of the patient, the specialists of the medical center painlessly and quickly carry out a full range of necessary studies:
study of the patient’s anamnesis and complaints
general urinalysis
bacteriological culture of urine on flora with determination of sensitivity to antibiotics
clinical blood test
Ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder
uroflowmetry (assessment of urodynamics)
Additionally, it is necessary to be examined for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), for which a smear from the urethra and the patient’s blood are examined in the laboratory.
Stages of treatment of cystitis in women
If the pathogens of STDs are detected during the diagnosis, the first stage of treatment of cystitis will be the fight against these microorganisms. If “dangerous” infections are not detected, they begin direct treatment of cystitis. In each specific case, the therapy regimen will be individual for an individual patient, however, as a rule, complex treatment with antibacterial drugs is prescribed, allowing not only to get rid of the manifestations of the disease, but also to eliminate its main causes. During intensive treatment, it is forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages and salty food, have sex without a condom, overcooling and overexerting yourself physically.
In parallel with the main treatment, physiotherapy (laser therapy, magnetotherapy, electrophoresis, phonophoresis), mud therapy, etc. must be carried out. It is also necessary to eliminate all foci of inflammation in the body that can provoke the development of exacerbations of the disease: angina, tonsillitis, dysbiosis, caries, etc. At the end of the treatment procedures, it is necessary to be observed by a urologist for at least a year in order to exclude the recurrence of the inflammatory process and its recurrence.
Prevention of cystitis in women
Such a disease as cystitis, especially its chronic form, is quite difficult to completely eliminate. Therefore, it is much more important to prevent the development of this pathology than to treat it for a long time and persistently. In order to prevent this disease, doctors recommend following the following recommendations:
drink at least 2-2.5 liters of liquid daily
follow the rules of personal hygiene
do not overcool
wear warm underwear, tights or stockings
urinate every 2-3 hours
lead an active lifestyle (exercise, move more when sedentary)
eat right (exclude salty, pickled, spicy food, carbonated and alcoholic beverages)
In addition, to prevent the disease, it is necessary to undergo preventive medical examinations 2 times a year, which will not only detect pathology at an early stage, but also prevent the development of its complications.
