Rosacea is a lesion of the vessels located on the face. Rosacea usually manifests itself with red skin on the nose, cheeks, chin, forehead. In the later stages, the formation of a special type of thickening is characteristic, accompanied by infiltration of the skin of the nose, eyelids, ears and other parts of the body. Rosacea worsens the appearance of the skin, leads to changes in appearance, which causes psycho-emotional disorders. In case of eye damage, keratitis and corneal dysfunction may develop.

Rosacea, first of all, is a chronic disease characterized by red skin and the presence of pustules on it, as well as thickening of the dermis and deviation in the detachment of the epithelium.

The early degree of rosacea development is usually explained by the presence of demodecosis, although these two diseases are very different in nature. The pathogenesis of rosacea will be based on an increased level of sensitivity of the skin vessels. In the case of genetic predisposition, as well as fragility and fragility of blood vessels, it should be remembered that due to temperature changes, the influence of hot and dry air, the vessels can expand. The latter is not characteristic of the prevailing mass of people.

In those who suffer from gastritis, rosacea occurs much more often than in those who have the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. Rosacea, which is caused by medications (in the case of their prolonged use, for example, corticosteroid ointments), thinns the skin arteries. They become brittle and more sensitive to any kind of temperature changes.

Causes of rosacea
Rosacea occurs equally often in both women and men. Although doctors note that women are still more prone to rosacea. This happens during menopause. The latter is explained by the variability of the hormonal background and the properties of blood vessels. Interestingly, the owners of light and red hair, having light and sensitive skin, fall into the risk group much more often than brunettes or dark-skinned people. It should be said that rosacea can be triggered by allergic and contact dermatitis. This is due to excessively dilated vessels, the return of which to the previous state is almost impossible.

It is proved that the inhabitants of the Nordic countries have a genetic predisposition to rosacea. Those who live in a territory belonging to a sharply continental climate also fall into the risk group of this disease.

Diseases of the endocrine system and gastrointestinal tract, as well as disorders of the immune system, can also lead to the development of rosacea. Today, the pathogenesis of the disease has not yet been fully studied, but a large number of scientists believe that people staying in too hot or too cold spaces, as well as eating hot food, spicy foods and alcohol, can also provoke rosacea.

It must be said that rosacea is not classified as pyoderma, because so far no pathogen has been detected inside pustules and pustules, however, the detected special microflora (gram-negative) indicates prolonged antibiotic therapy.

The risk group also includes people with vegetative-vascular dystonia, which proceeds according to the type of angioedema, affecting the vascular network of the face.

Symptoms of rosacea
The first sign of the development of a disease called rosacea is redness of the skin at the slightest contact with hot or cold water, after drinking alcoholic or just hot drinks, with a change of climate. In all these cases, the face is instantly covered with red spots that do not disappear for a long time.

Usually, redness is concentrated in the area where the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin (the so-called T-zone) enter. The first stages of rosacea are characterized by redness on the skin, which, oddly enough, at first remain without the attention of their “owner”, since they do not bring discomfort, while easily masking themselves with cosmetics.

A more pronounced manifestation of the rash in rosacea occurs due to persistent prolonged expansion of the capillaries. It is known that blood flow contributes to an increase in local temperature, which indicates the possibility of the development of saprophytic microflora, which also continues to multiply actively. At the next stage of rosacea, the appearance of bumps and irregularities on the surface of the skin is observed. After a certain time, such bumps will turn into pustules. The skin becomes more dense and rough. It should be noted that the greatest seals are observed on the skin in the T-zone. It is at this time that a strong expansion of the vascular wall occurs, so the redness is expressed without a provoking factor.

If we talk about the lupoid form of rosacea, it is characterized by the presence of perioral and periorbital rashes, having the appearance of brown-red papules, as well as elements that are characterized by fusion with the further formation of a bumpy uneven surface. In unaffected areas, the skin has a healthy appearance and is not externally changed.

Rosacea can be characterized by a rapid course, which occurs during pregnancy, as well as after childbirth. If the therapy is appropriate, then rosacea will pass quickly and without a trace, but subsequent pregnancy will be characterized by the possibility of repeated rosacea.

If the disease is detected in men, then they usually talk about the persistent nature of the redness and seals that have appeared. Usually rosacea in males is complicated by rhinophyma. In case of progression of rosacea, the part located around the eyes may be affected. The discomfort caused at the moment of blinking, the feeling of dryness and pain, the feeling of the presence of “sand” — all these are the subsequent symptoms of rosacea. In the later stages, there is also a strong lacrimation. The latter speaks about the ocular form of rosacea. However, it must always be remembered that clinical manifestations are most often several years ahead of lesions on the skin. Sometimes the ocular type of rosacea is complicated by rosaceaceratitis, which contributes to visual impairment, up to its complete loss.

Other characteristic symptoms of rosacea are itching, a feeling of tight skin, “goosebumps”.

Diagnosis of rosacea
Diagnosis of rosacea is not difficult. For diagnosis, as a rule, a visual examination by a dermatologist is enough. However, due to the fact that demodex can be activated in the case of rosacea, a relapse of demodecosis is likely. Therefore, often when demodex is detected, rosacea is treated not so much as complications of the disease. The latter will only aggravate the condition of the patient with rosacea, which is why the disease will progress further.

In case of complication of rosacea by the presence of purulent vesicles or pustules, doctors perform back-sowing in order to study the microflora of the skin.

Treatment of rosacea
Rosacea in the initial stages (characterized by skin redness) is very quickly treatable, whereas rosacea, which has been complicated by rhinophyma, will require prolonged treatment.

Usually patients seek help from a doctor during the period when pustular rashes appear on the skin. In this case, the doctor prescribes special gels and ointments containing an antibiotic. If local antibiotic therapy does not have the desired effect, then the patient is prescribed medication therapy with antibiotics.

There are no exact methods of how to treat rosacea today. Treatment should be individual. For some, special lotions containing metronidazole have a good effect, for others, laser treatment will be effective.

It should be known that if you treat rosacea at home, then such treatment can lead to the formation of rosacea conglobate, characterized by a globular node of abscessing nature (as well as the presence of purulent fistulas). In the event of such complications, surgical intervention will be necessary, during which drainage will be installed in order to drain the pus.

If we are talking about uncomplicated forms of rosacea, then their therapy passes quickly enough, although it can take up to several months. After the elimination of inflammatory manifestations, the cause of the disease itself, namely the expanded vascular network, is eliminated. The most reliable method of eliminating dilated vessels on the face is photocoagulation or cryotherapy of local action. The effectiveness of such procedures will be noticeable after a few days. Patients suffering from rosacea themselves, during therapy, note that the amount of redness is noticeably reduced, itching disappears, the complexion becomes normal, and the skin looks completely healthy. After passing the course of procedures, creams are used, characterized by a high degree of protective filter.

Prevention of rosacea
Since rosacea, first of all, is a chronic disease, after the excess capillary mesh is eliminated, a relapse may occur and the mesh will reappear. Therefore, the main point of prevention will be periodic consultations with a cosmetologist in order to eliminate recurrent hypertrophic vessels. Also, preventive measures include avoiding overheating (or hypothermia), reducing the time spent in the sun, monitoring your diet (it should be correct), using only natural cosmetics that contain chestnut extract and substances that help strengthen blood vessels.
