CAUSES OF ROSACEA
Rosacea is a vascular disease that appears due to a violation of blood microcirculation. As a rule, rosacea manifests itself where our skin is most sensitive – on the face, and looks like well-known vascular asterisks. Most often, rosacea is concentrated on the forehead, under the eyes, on the chin, on the eyelids, on the nose and around the nose.
Rosacea occurs due to the fragility of blood vessels. In turn, the vessels become fragile due to various factors – this is climatic influence (for example, living in areas with a sharply continental climate), and work peculiarities (for example, prolonged exposure to frost), and excessive alcohol or nicotine consumption, as well as unstable blood pressure, obesity, genetic predisposition, stress factor. Rosacea can also cause improper nutrition – abuse of fast food, fried, spicy, hot food.
Also among the causes of rosacea are liver diseases, excessive exposure to ultraviolet light (including frequent visits to the solarium), as well as aggressive care procedures (too frequent peels, facial cleansing, the use of alcohol-based products, etc.).
SYMPTOMS OF ROSACEA
In addition to the visually distinguishable symptoms of rosacea – redness, swelling of blood vessels, vascular asterisks, there are also symptoms such as the reaction of blood vessels to any temperature changes – redness, tingling, burning, itching (for example, when washing with cold water or entering a hot room from a frosty street).
At first, rosacea appears only as a temporary redness of the skin. Then the redness becomes permanent. Due to the expansion and fragility of blood vessels, vascular meshes appear.
It should be noted that women are more susceptible to rosacea than men, and most often they suffer from owners of fair skin.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ROSACEA
Rosacea is not a cosmetic problem, but a disease, and it must be treated to prevent disruption of blood supply to tissues due to vascular fragility.
Medical treatment of rosacea is aimed at strengthening and increasing the tone of blood vessels – this helps to reduce the manifestations of rosacea and avoid the development of the disease, but does not eliminate the existing vascular asterisks. They are removed using:
removal of the destroyed capillary by laser (used for severe rosacea);
electrocoagulation – removal of asterisks by electrical impulses;
removal of destroyed vessels using a directional beam of light;
ozone therapy (saturation of the skin with oxygen and ozone, so that the affected area is restored – this type of treatment is used for minor lesions).
Treatment of rosacea is selected and prescribed by a doctor based on the individual characteristics of the patient, as well as the degree and localization of the disease.
PREVENTION OF ROSACEA
Skin prone to rosacea – thin, sensitive, light, blushing easily – needs special care. It is necessary to clean and moisturize it, use nutrients (creams, masks), and massage the skin. Of course, an important factor in the prevention of rosacea is proper nutrition, avoiding alcohol and nicotine, stress, sudden temperature changes, frostbite, as well as the use of moisturizing, nourishing and sunscreen cosmetics and facial skin care products. An effective means of preventing vascular problems is the bioflavonoid rutin – it is contained in ascorutin, which can be easily bought at any pharmacy.
Also, preventive procedures against rosacea are offered in most beauty salons – mesotherapy, professional care, lymphatic drainage facial massage, hardware procedures.
