Retinated teeth
Retented teeth are uncut teeth located in the jaw bone. Retented teeth are a fairly common pathology, as a rule, they are noted in the area of the canines.
CAUSES OF THE APPEARANCE OF RETENTIVE TEETH
Retenated teeth have both local and general causes of appearance.
Common causes of this anomaly:
Artificial, improper feeding of infants.
Common diseases.
Weakened by infectious diseases of the human body.
Local causes of retentive teeth:
The presence of teething teeth in the path that are pressed too tightly to each other.
An anomaly in the rudiments of permanent teeth, when the crown part of the tooth is directed to the root of the adjacent tooth. This provokes difficulties in teething and harms the root of the adjacent tooth.
Late change of temporary teeth, with slow physiological root resorption.
SYMPTOMS OF RETENTIVE TEETH
Retarded teeth can provoke a whole list of symptoms in the form of complications of their presence in the oral cavity: abscess, osteomyelitis, caries, discomfort and pressure in the problem area, pain in the adjacent tooth, trigeminal neuralgia, pathological fractures of the lower jaw, the formation of a follicular cyst.
DIAGNOSIS OF RETENTIVE TEETH
It is also possible to confirm the diagnosis of retentive teeth with a visual examination, when the tooth is not visible at all, and only part of its crown is on the surface, which, most often, is covered with plaque. With a superficial arrangement, the contours of the tooth are palpated.
To confirm the diagnosis, an X-ray is prescribed.
TREATMENT OF RETENTIVE TEETH
Retented teeth are a pathological condition that requires mandatory treatment, since in the absence of the latter, it can cause:
Development of monotogenic cysts.
Resorption of permanent teeth that are nearby, since retentive teeth can erupt spontaneously.
Abnormally early eruption of adjacent permanent teeth.
Violation of the aesthetics of the face, which causes the displacement of the lateral teeth to the defective side.
A separate place in the issue of retentive teeth is occupied by the wisdom tooth, this is the molar, which erupts last, after 18 years, which causes many complications.
As a rule, due to a number of factors, the location of the rudiment of this tooth is incorrect, which causes difficulties in its eruption. This tooth has a large size, but it has no predecessors, so it paves the way on its own. In some cases, the wisdom tooth simply does not have enough space in the dentition, which is why it has so many complications during eruption. If it causes severe inflammation, then it is removed after the inflammatory process is stopped.
Treatment of retarded teeth is a long and complex process, for which dentists with different specializations are involved. Treatment should be comprehensive and individual, taking into account the anatomical features of each patient and the location of adjacent teeth.
A surgical method for the treatment of retentive teeth is used:
In the event that the crown of the tooth is exposed in order to fix orthodontic elements on it.
If it is necessary to remove supercomplete teeth, which caused retention.
If it is necessary to remove temporary teeth, with insufficient physiological root resorption.
In some cases, the removal of retentive wisdom teeth is not required. This is determined using an X-ray, if it is clear that there is enough space for a teething tooth, and its position is correct
