Rectocele is a bulging of the rectal wall, spherical in shape, through ligaments and a defect of the perineal muscles. The disease can be triggered in women by multiple births or postmenopause.
CAUSES OF RECTOCELE
Heavy lifting associated with difficult working conditions.
Overweight.
Frequent diseases of the respiratory tract, which are accompanied by a strong cough.
The presence of constipation.
Weakening of the perineal muscles.
Age-related bowel changes.
Congenital disorder in the structure of the pelvic muscles.
TYPES OF RECTOCELE
There are three degrees of severity of this disease:
For the first degree, the absence of obvious complaints of the patient is characteristic, but when conducting a finger examination, a slight protrusion of the rectum is noted.
The second degree is characterized by the appearance of complaints about difficulties in emptying the rectum, namely soreness and discomfort. When conducting a finger examination, there is a pronounced protrusion of the rectum.
The third degree is characterized by the addition to the above symptoms of a painful call for bowel emptying and the development of complications (anal fissures, bleeding from the rectum).
SYMPTOMS OF RECTOCELE
If the size of the protrusion of the rectum is insignificant, then the disease may not have obvious symptoms, but with an increase in protrusion, they manifest:
False and painful urge to empty the rectum.
Difficulty of defecation without the use of enemas and laxatives.
Feeling of incomplete emptying of the rectum.
Pain during emptying, and the need for straining.
DIAGNOSIS OF RECTOCELE
The main symptoms that require the appointment of a comprehensive study are difficulty in defecation, abdominal pain and bleeding from the rectum. For diagnosis , they carry out:
Anamnesis of the patient and his close relatives.
Palpation of the abdomen.
Examination of the rectum for the detection of protrusion.
Laboratory tests: analysis of urine, blood, feces.
Instrumental studies: X-ray, rectoromanoscopy, irrogoscopy, colonoscopy, CT, ultrasound.
Consultation of a urologist.
TREATMENT OF RECTOCELE
If there are no obvious symptoms that cause discomfort to a person, then it is recommended:
Regular, at least twice a year, visits to the general practitioner.
Healthy proper nutrition, with a sufficient amount of fiber-rich foods consumed, refusal of spicy, hot, smoked, fried food.
Regular balanced physical activity with the development of pelvic area muscles.
If the rectocele develops with pronounced symptoms that cause discomfort to the patient, specialists most often prescribe surgical treatment. The surgical method is used to eliminate defects of the rectum.
Medical, conservative treatment is prescribed to the patient at the initial stage of the disease or if there are contraindications to surgery:
Antispasmodic and analgesic drugs to reduce pain.
Laxatives, with a swelling effect, to increase the volume of stool to stimulate the intestines to empty.
Intestinal antibacterial drugs are prescribed for stool retention, they act inside the intestine, suppressing the growth of pest microorganisms.
Meals at table No. 4, which provides for the rejection of dairy products, with a predominance of boiled fish, chicken and meat, and products with a large amount of dietary fiber. It is mandatory to use a large amount of liquid.
