Pyelonephritis in women
Pyelonephritis is an inflammation of the kidneys caused by pathogenic bacteria. The cause of pyelonephritis in women is most often not cured cystitis. With pyelonephritis, one of the kidneys is exposed to the disease, to which an infection has penetrated through the ascending current from the bladder. This disease is called ascending pyelonephritis.
Often the cause of the disease is the ingestion of E. coli, which can penetrate the urinary system due to the small distance between the anus and the urethra, which is due to the physiological characteristics of the female body. Bacteria from the anus penetrate into the urinary tract, and then the infection enters the kidney. The acute form of pyelonephritis begins suddenly, the first symptoms of the disease appear after two hours.
Signs of pyelonephritis in women:
An increase in body temperature from 38 degrees and above.
Swelling on the face associated with impaired excretory function of the kidneys.
Signs of the departure of the body.
Acute pain in the lumbar spine, especially in the kidney area.
Vomiting.
Symptoms of pyelonephritis in women can often be confused with signs of cystitis because of their similarity. As with cystitis, impurities of blood, pus, dark color of secretions and their unpleasant odor appear in the urine. The urge to urinate at the same time is frequent.
Treatment of pyelonephritis in women
With pyelonephritis, the patient is prescribed antibiotics necessary to eliminate the focus of the disease. Treatment is usually carried out at home, only in some cases hospitalization of the patient is recommended. The duration of taking pills is from 10 to 14 days. Together with antibacterial agents, a woman is prescribed symptomatic treatment – taking antipyretic drugs and analgesics.
After removing the symptoms of the disease, the doctor prescribes nitrofurans, nalidixic acid and phytotherapy to the woman. Treatment should be accompanied by bed rest and a diet prescribed by a doctor. After recovery, it is necessary to adhere to recommendations aimed at preventing the development of relapses of the disease, for example, a visit to a sanatorium is recommended.
