Pityriasis, which is commonly referred to as a sun fungus, is a skin disease. It manifests itself after a long stay in the sun (a controversial statement, but most often it is fixed in hot countries with humid climates and high solar radiation). At risk are people prone to dermatomycosis. The disease has a periodic character and proceeds in waves. It is not dangerous to health and is easily treated, although it gives a person psychological discomfort.
CAUSES OF PITYRIASIS
This disease has a fungal origin. Its occurrence has a connection with the internal imbalance of the body, although the transmission of fungi from person to person is also possible. Colored lichen belongs to the category of conditionally contagious diseases, the symptoms of which are not manifested in every infected person. Since most of the population of our planet is infected with one or another fungal disease, but they manifest themselves only when human immunity is weakened, the main causes of infection with multicolored lichen are:
Direct personal contact (this disease may be of a family nature).
Public items (fitting rooms, changing rooms).
Multicolored lichen has a long incubation period, from two weeks to several months, during which it does not manifest itself in any way, but in the presence of certain risk factors, an active exacerbation of the disease occurs. It can be:
Individual predisposition of the patient to dermatomycosis.
Oily skin, violation of physiological processes of the skin.
The presence of endocrine diseases: obesity, diabetes mellitus.
A change in the chemical composition of sweat, which provokes the development of fungal diseases.
Infectious diseases and decreased immunity.
Vegetative vascular dystonia.
Diseases of the digestive system, which affects human hair and skin.
Diseases of the respiratory organs.
Violation of the hormonal background of a woman, with diseases of the genitals, pregnancy or menopause.
In rare cases, this is a child’s age, as a rule, with a decrease in immunity or with the active use of detergents.
SYMPTOMS OF PITYRIASIS
The signs of the disease are:
The appearance of asymmetrical spots on the skin, having different shades, brown, pink, yellow. They have uneven cuts, and eventually gather into large foci. In summer, the spots become lighter, and in winter they acquire a rich color.
Localization of spots is usually noted on the back, in some cases on the abdomen, back and neck. It can appear on the scalp without causing changes in the hair covering.
DIAGNOSIS OF PITYRIASIS
Diagnosis of the disease is based on visual data, complaints, and anamnesis study.
TREATMENT OF PITYRIASIS
Treatment of this disease should be carried out exclusively by a specialist dermatologist, since specific knowledge is required to determine the correct course of treatment. Self-medication with this diagnosis is unacceptable, since uncontrolled intake of antifungal drugs can only worsen the patient’s condition.
The scheme of antifungal therapy is selected taking into account the type of lichen, which requires careful diagnosis. In summer, the patient is recommended to tan to destroy the fungus with sunlight.
Treatment is prescribed by external topical agents, in the form of sprays, solutions, ointments and creams. If the area of the skin lesion is significant, systemic antifungal drugs in tablets are prescribed in parallel.
In the course of treatment, daily wet cleaning of the room where the patient is located with disinfection measures is required.
