Pink lichen
Pink lichen refers to skin diseases, the causes of which are not fully known at the moment. It is generally believed that this disease has a viral nature. Therefore, it most often manifests itself in spring and autumn, when hypothermia and viral diseases are especially common. This is a contagious disease transmitted through household items and through contact with the patient. Therefore, when contacting a patient, it is necessary to observe safety and hygiene rules. Those people whose immunity, for a number of reasons, is weakened are susceptible to pink lichen.
CAUSES OF PINK LICHEN
This type of lichen is a viral infection, the causative agent of which is currently unknown. Factors that provoke the occurrence of the disease are viral infections and weakening of human immunity.
SYMPTOMS OF PINK LICHEN
This type of lichen, as a rule, manifests itself in people of active age and its manifestations are very diverse. The most common symptoms of this disease are: enlarged lymph nodes, fever, malaise, weakness. Symmetrical pinkish formations are visualized on the skin, which protrude somewhat above the surface of the skin.
This type of lichen is localized on the sides, hips, shoulders, back and chest. In half of the cases, before the appearance of pink rashes, a large spot, bright pink in color, which is covered with scales, forms on the skin.
The spots spread throughout the body for several weeks, after which they gradually fade away, leaving no traces on the skin. On the face, this disease rarely manifests itself.
Patients are most concerned about itching of the skin.
There are atypical cases of pink lichen, when the rash looks like bubbles or a spot rash and has a small spread. This form can be chronic.
DIAGNOSIS OF PINK LICHEN
The diagnosis of pink lichen should be confirmed by a specialist. To do this, you need to contact a dermatovenerologist. This disease is confirmed on the basis of clinical symptoms and laboratory studies. If questions arise in the diagnosis of the disease, a biopsy is performed. Since the nature of the rash with pink lichen has similar signs to secondary syphilis, it is necessary to do a blood test for syphilis.
TREATMENT OF PINK LICHEN
Pink lichen, in most cases, disappears on its own, without medical treatment. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to treat the presence of such a disease lightly. It can have complications due to the addition of inflammatory and infectious skin diseases. Therefore, the main direction of treatment of pink lichen is to prevent possible complications.
Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of pink lichen should refrain from taking baths, limiting themselves to the shower, staying in direct sunlight, wearing clothes made of synthetic fabric, especially synthetic underwear and clothing made of natural wool. It is necessary to exclude long periods of exposure to sweat on the skin.
It is recommended to follow a strict diet, with the exception of coffee, alcohol, pickled, smoked and spicy foods and foods with a high allergic coefficient, such as eggs, honey, nuts, chocolate.
For external use on the skin, means and ointments are used, which are recommended by a specialist. In case of severe skin irritation, antihistamines are prescribed for external use. If an infectious lesion of the skin has joined the disease, the appointment of antibacterial therapy is indicated.
