Parapsoriasis is usually called a severe skin lesion with a chronic course, manifested by symptoms of several types of dermatoses at once. First described at the beginning of the 20th century, this disease is manifested by the formation of multilayer flat elements and papules on the surface of the skin.
The peculiarity of the disease is the difficulty of its diagnosis due to the similarity of the course with other diseases, including tuberculosis (cutaneous form), pink lichen, psoriasis in the usual form, eczema, secondary syphilis. In view of this, a thorough differential diagnosis with the listed ailments is required.
Reasons
Unfortunately, medicine has not found the only correct answer about the causes of this chronically occurring, poorly treatable ailment. Today , more or less definitely , we can talk about several versions of its origin:
allergic reaction to various stimuli;
transferred somatic infectious diseases;
chronic foci of inflammation in the patient’s body;
vascular lesions;
dysfunctions of the immune and endocrine systems.
The version about the infectious origin has not been confirmed, although symptomatically parapsoriasis is very similar to the course of many infectious skin lesions.
Symptoms
The disease proceeds in several forms, differing in symptoms.
Plaque. The most common and manifested by the formation of weakly filtered plaques and spots having a soft pink color, often with shades of yellow or brown. The elements have an irregular, oval or rounded shape.
Lichenoid. It is rare. It is expressed by a long course and a poor reaction to treatment. It flows with the formation of tiny skin nodules with a size no larger than a pinhead. They merge into a rash of cherry or reddish-brown color.
Teardrop-shaped. Its course is characterized by the development of numerous hemispherical, having a smooth surface of red or brown, rounded or oval bubbles. The form is characterized by two phenomena – wafers and purple.
Acute form of parapsoriasis. It is a special kind of teardrop shape and, in addition to the development of characteristic skin elements, is manifested by symptoms of weakness, deterioration of general well-being, headache, fever, enlarged lymph nodes.
Diagnostics
Diagnosis of the disease is difficult due to the similar symptoms of various types of dermatitis. It is very difficult to make a definite diagnosis. Diagnosis is also difficult due to the fact that there are no clear definition criteria for parapsoriasis.
The diagnosis of this disease is based on data from blood tests, as well as data from biopsy studies of skin elements taken from foci of inflammation. Only laboratory tests are the main methods by which it is possible to talk about the development of parapsoriasis in one way or another. The visual picture often does not give a clear and definite picture for making a final diagnosis.
Treatment
In the therapy of parapsoriasis, the consistency and systematic nature of complex therapeutic measures is important. This importance is determined by the high resistance of parapsoriasis to therapy.
The methods of therapy are selected only by a doctor and depend on the type of lesion and its stage.
Diet is of great importance in the treatment of this ailment.
Prevention of parapsoriasis.
No specific preventive measures have been developed for this disease. However, reducing the risk of relapses can be achieved if you avoid the development of chronic foci of infection in the body, stick to a diet, and avoid colds.
