Fibroma is one of the most common benign diseases, which is characterized by abnormal growth of connective tissue. As a rule, fibroma occurs on the skin. The neoplasm always has a clear outline that is visible to the naked eye, rises above the surface of the skin, having either a thin leg or a wide base. Fibroma does not cause the patient any discomfort other than aesthetic, it is painless and does not emit any substances.
Fibroma can occur in any person at any age and on any part of the body, it is more common in women. Most often fibroids affect the skin, however, sometimes they also occur in internal organs. Female fibroids have a characteristic feature – they are prone to germination to surrounding tissues – fibromyoma muscles, angiofibroma vessels, fibroadenoma glands, subcutaneous fat – fibrolipoma.
CAUSES OF FIBROMA DEVELOPMENT
The main cause of fibroma is currently unknown to science. One of the most likely causes is a genetic predisposition. Sometimes, the development of fibroma is preceded by microtrauma or other skin damage, later on the site of which a neoplasm occurs.
Some inflammatory skin diseases can also cause, as well as hormonal shifts in the body.
Some scientists claim that taking certain drugs can change the structure of fibrous tissue and thereby cause its pathological overgrowth. Fibroids of some internal organs, for example, uterine fibroma is caused by numerous abortions, endocrine diseases, irregular sexual life. The onset of menstruation is too late or too early.
SYMPTOMS OF FIBROMA DEVELOPMENT
Depending on the localization, the clinical picture can be quite diverse, starting with the fact that fibroids of soft tissues and skin can not manifest themselves in any way, except as a visual cosmetic defect.
The fibroma of the skin looks like a spherical neoplasm with clear contours, which can be located both on a thin leg and have a wide base, tightly fused with the skin. The color of the neoplasm can also be different – from a light pink shade to more saturated colors – bright red, brown. At first, almost all formations have a light color. If a fibroma develops on a skin area that is exposed to the friction of clothing, then over time it may darken and become more rough.
In some clinical cases, the fibroma surface may become sensitive to sunlight and the action of various substances. Fibroma that occurs on the sole may eventually lead to the development of lameness.
If fibroma develops in the internal organs, then most often it is detected completely by accident, for example, during ultrasound examinations.
DIAGNOSIS OF FIBROMA
If you find suspicious neoplasms on your skin, you should definitely consult a dermatologist or even a dermatologist. The doctor should conduct a thorough examination, if necessary, a scraping of the pathologically altered area is taken, after which a histological examination is carried out.
To diagnose fibroids of internal organs, X-ray and ultrasound examination is performed.
FIBROMA TREATMENT
As a neoplasm, fibroma has a benign nature and cannot bring pronounced somatic pathologies. Fibroids are removed in the presence of concomitant subjective complaints of patients – plantar fibroids are removed when lameness appears, and also, at the request of the patient, a cosmetic defect is removed (for example, with fibroma that occurred on the face).
