Cellulite (lipodystrophy) is a skin condition in which degenerative–dystrophic processes occur in the structural structure of the skin and subcutaneous fat. In simpler terms, cellulite is the deposition of fatty inclusions in the subcutaneous fat unevenly, and forming bumps and pits, nodes.
Nevertheless, cellulite in the sense that we all used to understand is not a disease, but a skin condition. The disease itself, called cellulite, is an inflammation of subcutaneous fat.
A synonym for the condition in which fat deposits are deposited unevenly, as well as in problem areas, also has a scientific name – gynoid lipodystrophy or orange peel.
CAUSES OF CELLULITE AND PREDISPOSING FACTORS
The exchange of lipids and fats in the body is a rather complex structure, if the operation of which is disrupted, you can come to such a problem as cellulite. Fat metabolism occurs in every person’s body, but for some reason women develop cellulite more often than men.
Also, there are several factors in the presence of which cellulite may appear:
As strange as it may sound, cellulite can be inherited. The thing is that cellulite develops when certain metabolic processes are disrupted. And, as you know, the lack of any enzymes, metabolic disorders – have a large genetic component.
Racial origin. Scientists have noted that cellulite affects more often those who have a Caucasian origin.
Hormonal disorders. Endocrine diseases, as well as artificial hormonal changes (for example, taking oral contraceptives) can also be one of the reasons for the appearance of orange peel.
Vascular diseases – varicose veins, lack of lymph circulation contribute to the development of edema, which provoke the accumulation of fluid in the so-called fat lobules (the physiological structure of any subcutaneous fat).
Violation of mineral metabolism – it has been established that an overabundance of mineral salts in the body also causes fluid retention and leads to cellular edema.
Increased body weight, excessive appetite in combination with a sedentary lifestyle.
Abuse of carbohydrate foods, in particular “fast” carbohydrates. Lack of protein in the body.
Poor environmental conditions.
Incorrect diets and diet.
STAGES OF CELLULITE DEVELOPMENT
The initial stage of cellulite. On external examination, there is a slight swelling, the skin is mostly smooth and smooth. The patient notes some changes – longer regeneration with minor injuries – bruises, scratches.
At this time, the following processes occur inside the subcutaneous fat: The walls of the vessels become more permeable, excess fluid enters the connective tissue. Lymphatic and venous stagnation is observed, harmful substances begin to accumulate in the intercellular structures.
The second stage. The swelling is becoming more pronounced. When collecting the skin into a fold, a lumpiness is detected. In a relaxed state, waves are noticeable. On palpation, a thickening of the fat layer is detected.
The third stage. It has the name “microdolled”. In a calm, relaxed state, orange peel is observed. The swelling is increasing more and more. Spontaneous skin injury and bruising are observed.
The fourth stage of cellulite. The bumps on the skin are pronounced, with palpation, the adipose tissue is very dense. There is severe swelling.
CELLULITE TREATMENT
These measures can only be called treatment conditionally, because cellulite in the broad sense of the word is not recognized as a disease.
The main measures to eliminate unpleasant orange peel are aimed at improving blood circulation and reducing edema. Also important is the correction of diseases, if they could cause the development of cellulite and diet, if the patient is overweight and obese.
Activities that are considered effective:
Manual and hardware massage – activation of metabolic processes, improvement of blood circulation and lymph circulation.
Electrolipolysis.
Massage using ultrasound.
Phonophoresis, pressotherapy and other physiotherapy procedures.
Hydrotherapy.
