Anxiety disorder
Anxiety is a normal human reaction, an integral part of our life. In cases when, under the influence of anxiety, a person loses the ability to function normally, it is worth talking about the development of an anxiety disorder.
Anxiety disorder is an independent disease with its own symptoms. This disease is characterized by an excessive feeling of anxiety or other emotional reactions that manifest themselves when it is difficult to adapt to any stressful situation. Anxious feelings persist in a person constantly, and they are directed at most of the life circumstances. Since the constant tension from the feeling of anxiety has an extremely negative impact not only on the psychological, but also on the emotional state of a person, then, as a result, general physical ailments or depressive disorders may manifest themselves.
CAUSES OF ANXIETY DISORDER
There are several versions explaining the causes of such conditions.
According to psychoanalytic theory, anxiety is a symptom of a forbidden or unacceptable need, which forces a person to prevent its manifestation on an unconscious level. Anxiety in this context is a repressed need.
According to the biological theory, anxiety disorders are the result of biological anomalies, which significantly increases the production of neurotransmitters. For example, patients with anxiety disorder are unusually sensitive to the slightest increase in the level of carbon dioxide in the air.
Russian medicine is characterized by the attribution of anxiety disorders to neurotic disorders.
SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY DISORDER
Anxiety disorder has several characteristic signs that persist for a long period of at least two weeks:
Hyperactivity of the autonomic system: dry mouth, dizziness, tachycardia, sweating.
Motor tension: inability to feel a state of rest and relax, trembling, headaches, fussiness.
Constant anxiety and fear for your future, fear of possible failures, inability to concentrate.
DIAGNOSIS OF ANXIETY
The diagnosis can only be confirmed by a psychiatrist. To do this, he conducts an analysis of the general clinical picture and certain psychological tests.
TREATMENT OF ANXIETY DISORDER
Treatment should be comprehensive, including rational reasoning and drug therapy.
The psychotherapist helps the patient to understand the peculiarities of his individual thinking that provoke an anxiety disorder. This is necessary so that a person learns to gradually cope with them independently, without falling into a vicious circle. With the help of special techniques, the patient’s sensitivity to factors that previously caused a strong negative reaction decreases.
Drug therapy is aimed at correcting such manifestations of this condition as insomnia, excessive fussiness, constant muscle tension. The patient may be prescribed antidepressants, tranquilizers, adrenoblockers.
Since in most cases (if we are talking about a neglected form of anxiety disorder), in humans it transforms into chronic diseases of internal organs (for example, stomach ulcer), it is necessary to involve narrow specialists who will prescribe appropriate treatment.
Without fail, the patient is recommended to give up or significantly reduce the consumption of alcohol, coffee and cigarettes, since all this significantly increases the state of anxiety, having an exciting effect on the central nervous system of a person
